Molluscs are invertebrate animals with a soft body, often protected by a calcareous shell. They live in the sea, in fresh water or on land, and generally move slowly by means of a muscular foot. The snail, the slug, the mussel and the oyster belong to this group, as do the octopus and the cuttlefish, its most mobile representatives.
