For breeding as well as for Eid, choose a lively sheep with clear eyes, that walks without limping and is in good overall condition. Ask the seller for its age: it can also be checked by its teeth.
Ask about the treatments it has received (deworming, vaccines) and, for an animal intended for consumption, about the withdrawal periods of any medication given. If in doubt, ask a veterinarian before buying.

By its teeth: the permanent incisors appear in pairs over the years. A veterinarian or an experienced breeder can estimate it in seconds.
Which signs should alert me?
An animal that is thin, listless, coughing, limping, has diarrhoea or a discharge from the nose or eyes. In that case, it is best to ask a veterinarian.
How can I compare prices?
