Vibrio infection is a bacterial disease affecting freshwater and brackish water fish, including catfish (Silurus glanis). It is caused by bacteria of the Vibrio genus, which occur naturally in water. These bacteria exploit a weakened state or injury in the fish to cause infection, which can sometimes be severe. Both farmed and wild catfish are affected, particularly during periods of stress or poor water quality.
