The Crab Plover (Dromas ardeola) is a shorebird that inhabits coastal regions and wetlands, particularly in North Africa and the Persian Gulf. Like many wild birds or those kept in captivity (zoos, wildlife rehabilitation centers), it can harbor roundworms (nematodes) in its digestive tract. Gastrointestinal parasitism is a frequent cause of weakness in young or stressed birds.
