Soft, mostly painless swelling beside the anus

A soft lump appears under the tail, on one side of the anus or both; the animal tolerates touch without showing obvious pain, and the skin over it is neither red nor warm nor broken. A red, warm, or painful swelling belongs under "Red or swollen anal area"; a weeping wound belongs under "Discharge, wound, or bad odor at the anus".
