It is reported that one day, while the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was traveling with his Companions, a simple yet instructive event occurred. Without thinking of the consequences, they took the young birds to observe them more closely, as children or curious onlookers sometimes do when confronted with the fragility of nature.

Shortly after, the mother bird returned to her nest. Finding her young gone from their place, she began to circle above the camp, agitated and visibly in distress. When the Prophet ﷺ saw this commotion, he at once questioned his Companions: "Who has distressed this bird by taking its young? Let him return them to her."
