It typically appears in animals already weakened, injured, or stressed by poor water conditions.
The fungus forms a whitish or grayish fuzzy coating on the skin surface, which can spread rapidly if left untreated. In healthy animals living in clean water, this mold is usually harmless, but it becomes opportunistic once the skin is damaged or immunity declines.
