Gastrointestinal parasitism caused by roundworms (nematodes) is a very common condition in lemurs, both in the wild and in captivity (zoos, wildlife care centres, breeding facilities).
These parasites live in the animal's intestines and feed at its expense, causing progressive deterioration in overall health.
