The treatment is above all emergency support: rehydration, nutritional assistance, and sometimes respiratory assistance depending on the severity.\n\nIn certain cases, a specific botulinum antitoxin can be administered by a veterinarian if it is available, particularly valuable for an endangered species such as the bald ibis.\n\nImmediate removal of the bird from the source of contamination is essential to stop the poisoning.
